Art UK is a cultural, educational charity dedicated to opening up public collections for enjoyment, learning, and research. They are committed to assisting the organisations that own the collections so they can present the full extent of their artworks online. When the Art UK website launched in 2016 it enabled all to see digitised images of paintings held in public ownership in the UK. Works by some 40,000 painters held in over 3,000 collections are now on the website. The shop was also established in 2016 to help provide additional funds for the public art collections via the sale of print items. All the money from purchases goes directly back to the museum or art gallery collections to support the vital work they do around conservation and care, public engagement programmes, and learning.
