Amanda Ansell is exhibiting ‘Sparkle’ in a major new exhibition at Norwich Castle this spring.
Featuring 87 artists based in East Anglia, In Proximity explores experiences of closeness — from ways of looking, making and interacting, to the impact of bringing diverse artistic approaches together in a shared space. The exhibition has been selected by writer and curator Sarah Lowndes and artists Daniel & Clara, working alongside Amanda Geitner, Director of the East Anglia Art Fund (EAAF), and Lisa Newby, Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art at Norwich Castle.
Developed in partnership with EAAF, In Proximity celebrates the ambitious scope of contemporary practice across East Anglia. The artworks delve into real and imagined relationships with the places, objects, people and other life forms that shape our surroundings. Many works reflect on the fragility, power and mystery of the natural world, while others explore the meanings embedded in materials and environments over time.
Amanda says, “This small abstract began with an experience of floodwater and moonlight. The composition explores submerged terrain, shifting reflections, and saturation. It is a study in tonal restraint and a response to the emotional resonance of place. The two circles (moon/moon reflection) become a formal device – a means to hold stillness and movement in tension.”
All artworks in the exhibition are available for sale, with proceeds supporting both the artists and EAAF’s ongoing commitment to exhibitions and art education in the region.
