‘Swan’ has been acquired by Swindon Museum and Art Gallery in Wiltshire. The painting is part of Amanda Ansell’s foam bubble island series; a body of work that considers notions of impermanence and is painted using a monochrome, greyscale.
The Swindon Collection of Modern British Art consists of around 600 works of art and 300 studio ceramics, made between 1880 and today by artists who lived and worked in Britain. The collection is wide-ranging and covers major movements in British art including artists from St Ives, Bloomsbury Group, Camden Town Group, The School of London, Pop Art, Abstraction. There is also an extensive collection of art by Swindon artists, showing how the town has changed since the 19th century.
